Ike and the Recovery

Hurricane Ike's storm surge flooded Galveston Ballet's studio with over 8 feet of water.

Our building was damaged and our equipment was destroyed.

Mold and muck covered everything.

This close up of our gallery wall shows the waterline above the remaining photographs.

Our hurricane miracle  This little table holding our archival photo albums floated and landed upright,
saving our photographs from the contaminated water.

Trinity Episcopal Church and School has donated space allowing us to continue with classes and rehearsals.

Despite the damage we have all suffered from Ike, in December, our company dancers
performed for local school children with our Kempner and Target funded Dance in Schools program.

Galveston Ballet dancers learn early that when they fall, to get up, smile, stay focused and keep dancing.
